Cookies & Ads
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that your browser stores for a website. We also use similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage and device identifiers in our apps. On this page we call all of these “cookies”.
Cookies we use
| Type | What they do | Your choice |
|---|---|---|
| Necessary | Keep you signed in, remember your language and theme, protect forms and keep the service secure | Always on — the site needs them to work |
| Preferences | Remember choices such as sound and recently played games | You can clear them in your browser |
| Analytics | Show us which pages and games are used, so we can improve them | Only with your consent where consent is required |
| Advertising | Used by Google and other ad partners to show and measure ads and to limit how often you see the same ad | Only with your consent where consent is required; you can opt out of personalized ads |
Games run on their own subdomains (for example game.play.gamesyap.com) and may save your progress in browser storage there. Games can’t set ad or tracking cookies — we check every game for ad and tracking code before it is published.
Ads on GamesYap
- GamesYap is free because of ads. Every ad is clearly labelled “Advertisement”.
- Full-screen ads appear only between games or levels, never during active play, and the game pauses and mutes while an ad is on screen.
- Ads never give points.
- Some games let you watch an ad for in-game help, such as a retry. There is always a free option too.
Google advertising cookies
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to GamesYap and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ cookies at www.aboutads.info or, in Europe, www.youronlinechoices.eu.
- How Google uses cookies in advertising: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
- The companies allowed to sell our ad space are listed in our ads.txt file.
Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland see a message from our Google-certified consent management platform (CMP, IAB TCF) on their first visit. Until you choose, Google Consent Mode keeps ad and analytics storage off, and only limited, non-personalized ads can be shown. Marketing tags, such as the Meta Pixel or the Pinterest Tag, load only after you agree.
Changing your choices
- On the website: use the privacy settings link of the consent message, or open Settings → Privacy choices when signed in, to review or change your choice at any time.
- In your browser: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block necessary cookies, signing in won’t work.
- In our apps: open Settings → Privacy choices. On iOS, tracking only happens if you allow it in the App Tracking Transparency prompt, and you can change this later in your device settings.
Children
Players under 13 only see non-personalized ads, and we don’t use advertising cookies to build profiles of them.
