Idle Cooking Game Tips: Serve, Wash Up and Grow Your Kitchen
Idle cooking game tips for Handi Hustle: read the order bubbles, serve in one trip, keep plates moving to the sink and hire the right staff first.

A good kitchen game keeps your hands full without making you feel rushed. These idle cooking game tips are built around Handi Hustle, our free 3D biryani game, where you walk around your own kitchen, carry plates from the handis to the tables and wash up after every meal. Most of the ideas also help in other arcade-style restaurant games.
In Handi Hustle you play Rafi. He has 100 coins, the recipes of his old teacher, Ustad, and a lane in Old Dhaka where every kitchen has shut its doors. Ustad remembers when the lane smelled of biryani from morning to night, and he has a few words of advice along the way.
Learn the loop first
The first minutes teach the whole game. Walk onto the Biryani House lot and stand still: the coins flow into the dashed zone until the kitchen is yours. Then light the first handi for plain polao. One table comes with the kitchen, and soon the first guest walks in and sits down. A yellow arrow always floats over the next job, so you never have to guess.
From then on the loop is the same for every dish. A guest sits at a free table, and a bubble over their head shows what they ordered and how many plates. You walk to that dish's handi, pick up the plates, and walk to the table to serve them. When the guest has eaten, they queue at the till and pay on the way out, and the coins pile up beside it until you walk over and pick them up.
Read the order bubble before you move
The bubble over each guest is the most useful thing on the screen. It shows a plate in the colour of the dish and a number, such as ×2. Look at it first, then go straight to the matching handi.
You only pick up what the seated guests are waiting for, so your hands never fill with plates nobody wants. If two guests at nearby tables ordered the same dish, stand at that handi until you have both orders, and serve them in one trip.
Serve in one round, then collect
Walking is the real cost in a kitchen game. Try to plan little rounds: pick up for the guests who are waiting, serve them one after another, and then pass the till on your way back to the kitchen.
Guests will wait a good while, but not for ever. If someone has waited too long, they eat what has come and leave, or they walk out hungry if nothing came at all. When the hall is busy, serve the guests who sat down first.

Dirty plates block your tables
This is the rule that makes Handi Hustle different from a simple shop game. Every guest leaves their plates on the table, dirty, and nobody new will sit at a dirty table. A hall full of dirty tables earns nothing, however many dishes you cook.
So after a few meals, make a cleaning run. You can only pick up dirty plates with no food in your hands, so finish serving first. Then pick up the plates from a couple of tables close together and carry them to the sink between the hall and the kitchen. The sink also takes any food nobody is waiting for, so nothing ever gets stuck in your hands.

Add dishes and tables together
Every new dish does two jobs. It sells for more than the one before, and it brings guests in faster, because the menu has more to offer. But faster guests need somewhere to sit, so keep buying tables as the menu grows. The kitchen starts with one table and has room for twelve.
Handis and tables are paid the same way: stand still on their dashed zone. Walking across a zone does not spend your coins, so you can cross the hall freely and only pay when you stop on purpose.
Level up handis and tables
Stand next to a handi or a table and a small card shows its level and the price of the next one. A handi can go up four levels: each one cooks faster and keeps four more plates warm. A table can go up two levels, from one seat to two and then four, so more guests eat at once. Tables are often the best buy once the menu is long.
Use the HR room well
Once two dishes are on the menu, the HR room opens near the gate. Stand at its desk and a panel shows everything you can buy there.
- The cashier works the till for you. Hire the cashier first, so guests can pay while you cook and serve.
- Waiters pick up plates at the handis and serve the guests who have waited longest. Up to four can work in each kitchen.
- Cleaners carry the dirty plates to the sink. Up to two can work in each kitchen.
- Walking speed and carry more plates make every one of your own trips faster.
- Staff speed and staff carry more make the whole team faster.
- Better prices raise what every guest pays.
A good order is the cashier, then a waiter, then a cleaner, and then more waiters as you add tables. Better prices pay off best once many dishes are on the menu.
Plan for the Kebab Corner
The kitchen next door is for sale too, and it costs much more than the first one. Behind it waits the Kebab Corner, where charcoal grills cook 20 dishes, from seekh kebab and chicken tikka to butter naan, mango lassi and a grill feast. Grill dishes sell for far more than biryani, so opening it is a big step forward.
Save for it once the Biryani House has its cashier, a waiter and a cleaner. That way the biryani side keeps earning while you build up the grills from scratch. The Kebab Corner has its own tables, HR room, staff and upgrades.
Let the lane work while you are away
When you come back after a break, a welcome card shows what your kitchens earned. Only kitchens with a cashier, a waiter and a cleaner keep working without you, because somebody has to serve, wash up and take the money. Away earnings run at a quieter pace and stop after eight hours, so a short visit every so often keeps them flowing.
The lane also has its own clock. A day lasts six minutes, the light turns orange in the evening and the string lights over the lane glow at night. It is a nice moment to stop and look at how many tables are full.

FAQ
Is Handi Hustle free?
Yes. Handi Hustle is free to play in your web browser, with nothing to download, install or buy. Every lot, handi, table, hire and upgrade is paid with coins you earn in the game. Signed-in players also earn GamesYap points for each new dish on the menu and for four achievements.
How do I move?
Drag anywhere on the screen and a joystick ring appears under your finger; the further you drag, the faster you walk. On a computer you can also drag with the mouse or use the arrow keys or WASD. Pinch, scroll or press + and − to zoom. To buy something, stand still on its dashed zone.
Why are no new guests coming in?
Guests only sit at a free table: one that is bought, empty and clean. If every table is taken or still has dirty plates on it, nobody new comes in. Carry the dirty plates to the sink, hire a cleaner to help, and buy more tables as your menu grows.
What should I buy first in the HR room?
Hire the cashier first, so the till works while you cook and serve. Then hire a waiter and a cleaner, so plates reach the guests and the tables stay clean. Add more waiters as you add tables, and buy better prices once you have plenty of dishes on the menu.
